When is a hotel sustainable? Who hasn't seen them, the little signs in hotels that say something like "We are a sustainable hotel. Therefore, for the sake of the environment, we ask you to use multiple towels." Or the breakfast corner with a 10% organic section and the promise that regional products have been purchased for guests - without being transparent about where the food actually comes from and how it has travelled.
Is that enough to be considered a sustainable hotel? Not in our opinion. Because only those who think outside the box and constantly strive for higher standards can offer their guests a holistic sustainable experience in the hotel. We don't just want to talk the talk, we want to live this philosophy. We are firmly convinced of the feasibility of our endeavour, as it primarily contributes to the environment (in the broader sense). With the Cause we care and Swisstainable programmes, the Hotel Euler is committed to continuously optimising its sustainability measures. Read below to find out what we are already doing.
"Cause we care" - let's do things together: As part of the myclimate "Cause We Care" initiative, we are giving you the opportunity to make an effective contribution to climate protection and sustainability together with us by making a voluntary contribution. With CHF 3 per overnight stay, you support our sustainability measures and offset the CO2 emissions of your stay. In return, we promise to double the contribution. Part of the amount will be used to support an ecological waste management project in Kenya. This means you will have a climate-neutral holiday. The remaining amount will be invested by us in sustainability measures on site or in operational sustainability.
Manz Privacy Hotels have always been passionate about pioneering technology and sophisticated about often unusual services. And so digitalisation is not just a buzzword at Manz Hotels, but part of our philosophy. We create synergies and added value for business travellers and private travellers and ensure carefree stays and sustainable success.
Together with the Vattel hotel management school, we are developing further measures for the sustainability of our hotels and are endeavouring to complete these with a global certificate. Manz Privacy Hotels aims to have completed this process by the end of 2022.
The "Cités de l'énergie" (Energy Cities) were launched in 2001 by the SuisseEnergie programme with a view to creating a "platform for an intelligent energy policy". They promote the use of renewable energies, environmentally friendly mobility and the sustainable use of resources. Basel is one of 313 energy cities in Switzerland.
The city of Basel was awarded the European Energy Award® Gold label for its commitment to a sustainable energy future. This label is awarded to the best "pupils" of the Swiss "Cités de l'Energie" label. These cities have implemented at least 75% of the plan to which they have committed themselves.
Swissness and sustainability: Switzerland Tourism has launched the "Swisstainable" campaign to demonstrate that Switzerland is a sustainable travel destination. In Switzerland, we have always endeavoured to strike a harmonious balance between the needs of our guests, the local population and the environment. We will continue to develop the Hotel Euler in the direction of sustainability.
